Wine Not?

This past weekend I made my first meal by using yummy wine. I am not a drinker of wine myself, but I have always loved the idea of cooking with it. I find all these yummy recipes online but most of them call for wine. So, I took the plunge and went to the liquor store. It's so lame that I have to go to the liquor store and I can't just go to the regular grocery store...it bugs, but I got over it. I made chicken with a white wine garlic cream sauce over noodles...very good! Even Sam loved it :)

Paper bag and everything...

Boneless, skinless, chicken breasts
Garlic powder
Salt
Parsley
Black Pepper
2-3 cups of white wine
2 Tbsp Lemon Juice
Cook for 8-10 hours

Rob was so cute and went out to pick a bouquet of lavender in
our backyard...such a cutie he is :)

The dinner ended up a big success...no pictures because we ate it too fast!

"Soo Big!"

Guess who had his first birthday?

This big guy! Since Sam & Poppy have the same birthday,
we went out to Chili's for dinner and then came back to our place
for cake and ice cream and presents. Sam got his very own little
cupcake and loved it...

...Loved it all gone. Yeah...we ended up not getting much sleep that
night because someone had a tummy ache and too much sugar in
his system :)

I gave my dad a hand-made gift certificate for the following Friday.
We had a whole day of pampering - which he really needed. We had lunch at
Wendy's (gotta love their dollar menu). Then, we headed to see Harry Potter
& The Deathly Hallows Pt. 2. Dad had never seen it, and I had already...but, I still
cried and it still gave me chills - I love this one...it's gotta be my favorite.
After spending time with Harry Potter, we headed up the canyon on dad's Kawasaki Vulcan.
After a nice and pleasant time looking at the leaves, dad had a surprise 90-minute massage
which he LOVED and then we ended the night with dinner at Wingers. It was an awesome night!

This is what Sam does when you ask him, "how big are you?"

We are going to have a family party for Sam this Saturday. I hope it turns out ok...our house is still a work in progress and there is stuff everywhere it seems. But, it will be good to have our family over. For the party, I'm making super moist sugar cookies, my favorite home-made brownies, and possibly another treat. It's going to be pretty casual and we are not going to have a cake...but which is unorthodox. But, that's how I roll...plus Sam will have his own little cupcake and never think anything is wrong and he won't remember it the next day! Ha!

Happy Wednesday Friends!

Autumn Nights

After a non-stop month {or so} of working on our Riverton home...not referred to as a "house anymore"...we are finally living in it! We moved ourselves in {officially} Friday of Conference weekend. With a little more unpacking done, the kitchen counter cleaned off, and a new sink faucet, it's warming up. Warming up, literally, because we forgot to let Questarr Gas know that we owned it and sign up with a new account...so what happened?
Me: "Honey, I can't get any hot water"
Rob: "Oh, the pilot is probably out"
{A few minutes pass as Rob is downstairs}
Rob: "Woops, did we get an account going with the gas company?"
Me: "Crap."

So, no hot water or heat for about two days...the coldest two days of the season so far. But, luckily, we were able to borrow an Amish heater {gotta love the Amish!} from Rob's parents and a great connection for someone to clean and service our furnace before the gas came back on {we hadn't done that yet}.

What a miraculous feeling it is to have warmth is one's home! I totally will not take it for granted anymore.

This past weekend, we celebrated Sam's 1st Birthday just our little family. In a few weeks, we plan on having grandparents a few others around for a Halloween/Birthday party. It was nice and chill and we had fun. However, we have learned not to give Sam a whole cupcake right before bed...duh...it seems so dumb now. But, we didn't think and he was up a lot of the night with a tummyache and the sugar flowing through his veins.

Yesterday, we had his 12 month appointment and he recieved 4 shots in his legs. This is the worst run of shots yet...poor thing has been miserable tonight especially. I feel so bad :(, but it's for his good. I'm glad we don't have to worry about him not being immunized or having the flu shot anymore.

I'll post pics next time! Sorry :)
